Bischof Meinwerk exhibition
24 October 2009 - 21 February 2010"Bischof Meinwerk" exhibition (Diözesanmuseum u. Museum in der Kaiserpfalz )

The exhibition is entitled "Für Königtum und Himmelreich - 1000 Jahre Bischof Meinwerk von Paderborn“ (For the eartlhy kingdom and the kingdom of heaven – 1,000 years of Bishop Meinwerk of Paderborn) Paderborn“ and showcases the life and works of Bishop Meinwerk, the most famous of Paderborn’s bishops who reigned during the middle ages. Thankfully Bishop Meinwerk came from a wealthy, aristocratic family so during his reign (1009-1036) he had sufficient funding to turn Paderborn not only into a building site but eventually into one of the most important towns in the German empire.
The list of his achievements is not without note: Kaiserpfalz, Bartholomäus chapel, Abdinghof church and the Busdorf church are not only a fitting tribute to the creative powers of the man who came to be known as the "second founder of Paderborn" but they also still determine the layout of the centre of the city of Paderborn today.
