Albrechtsburg Meissen

The Albrechtsburg is considered to be one of Germany’s most important late medieval castles with early modern ‘tendencies’ (Dehio)

Originally built as a stately residence

on the site of the former Margrave castle – built between 1471 and pproc. 1500,

last additions 1521 to 1525 - by Duke Albrecht

(Name change in 1676) – planned to function as both residence and centre for the government.

 Open

March to October daily 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

November to February 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. 

Special opening times fro Christmas and in January:

Closed on 24^th, 25^th and 31^st December

1^st January open from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

From 15^th January – 31^st January open at the weekends (Sat./Sun)
