Albrechtsburg Meissen
The Albrechtsburg is considered to be one of Germany’s most important late medieval castles with early modern ‘tendencies’ (Dehio) Originally built as a stately residence on the site of the former Margrave castle – built between 1471 and pproc. 1500, last additions 1521 to 1525 - by Duke Albrecht (Name change in 1676) – planned to function as both residence and centre for the government.
Open March to October daily 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. November to February 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Closed on 24th, 25th and 31st December 1st January open from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. From 15th January – 31st January open at the weekends (Sat./Sun) Saxony’s state castles, palaces and gardens
